That "goodbye-microsoft.com" thing was useful until it failed to install GRUB. Then, I tried to install Ubuntu (Edgy Eft) via netboot. That install got borked when the laptop shutdown accidentally. So now, I have two bricks. Next step: install debian via floppy. But I have to actually go buy some floppies, since I haven't had a computer with a working floppy drive in eons.
